Brief

This research project conducted at the University of Queensland’s Centre for Future Timber Structures with Dr Joe Gattas, investigates a hybrid structure of plywood press-fit panels arranged in a geometry whereby the structure self-stabilizes under its own self weight. The plywood panels are coated with a layer of FRP on the tensile faces, allowing a hybrid of timber and fibre materials to perform in unison.   The project was one of 36 selected internationally from over 250 entries for inclusion at the Fabricate 2017 conference, and is published in the catalogue.
